Kern County: Pedestrian Jose Tosano Ochoa Struck and Fatally Injured

At about 10:26 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, a vehicle struck and fatally injured 61-year-old pedestrian Jose Tosano Ochoa in Kern County. The accident occurred on Road 150 near Avenue 8. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he succumbed to the trauma he suffered at 3:15 a.m. on Sunday. The accident is under investigation.

“When a family loses a loved one to a traffic accident, they may hold the at-fault party liable for their loss through the wrongful death claims process,” explained California injury attorney James Ballidis.

Throughout Kern County, 259 pedestrians were killed or injured in traffic accidents in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS compares the accident data of 58 counties in the state, giving those with the poorest records the highest rankings, with 1st place being the worst. That year, Kern ranked 14th for its incidence of fatal and injury pedestrian accidents.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Jose Tosano Ochoa, the pedestrian who was struck and fatally injured.
