Nuevo: Truck Struck, Killed Cyclist Pascual Vega Jr.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23, a pickup truck struck and killed 57-year-old cyclist Pascual Vega Jr. in Nuevo. The accident occurred on Menifee Road near Long Street. Vega was pronounced dead at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

“When a motorist’s negligence causes fatal injury to another, the family of the victim may pursue a wrongful death claim in order to hold the motorist liable for their loss,” explained California bicycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.

In Riverside County, 340 bicyclists were killed or injured in traffic accidents in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Riverside 41st out of 58 counties for its incidence of fatal and injury bicycle accidents; 1st place is the worst possible ranking.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Pascual Vega Jr., the cyclist whom the truck struck and killed.
