Torrance: Car Accident Leaves Drivers Trapped in Wreckage

By

Shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11, a car accident in Torrance left the drivers involved trapped in their vehicles. The incident was triggered when a man traveling west on Spencer Street near Victor Elementary School swerved into opposing lanes of traffic, colliding with an eastbound vehicle. The impact sent the second vehicle into a third that was parked nearby. Firefighters had to use hydraulic extraction tools to free the drivers from the wreckage, both of whom suffered injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities are investigating the crash, explains a California injury attorney.

Statewide, traffic fatalities decreased by 10.3 percent from 3,434 in 2008 to 3,081 in 2009, the lowest level since the federal government began recording such information in 1975, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. In 2009, Torrance accounted for 593 of the 18,867 fatal and injury accidents that occurred in Orange County.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the drivers who were trapped in the wreckage of the car accident on Monday.
