At about 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1st, four people were injured in a crash at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Gerald Ford Drive in Palm Desert. While traveling eastbound on Gerald Ford, the driver of a white SUV collided with a vehicle heading southbound on Monterey. A third vehicle was also involved in the accident. Paramedics transported four people to local hospitals. Authorities are investigating the crash.
“When a motorist’s negligence results in an accident causing injury to others, he or she may be liable for debt the victims incur from medical bills and lost income during their recovery,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis.
Palm Desert accounted for 4 of the 172 fatalities and 434 of the 10,963 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in traffic accidents throughout Riverside County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Comparing the crash statistics of 104 cities with populations ranging in size from 50,001 to 100,000 residents, the California Office of Traffic Safety ranked Palm Desert 13th for fatal and injury collisions-a somewhat poor ranking considering that 1st place is considered the worst.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the four people who were injured in the crash on Monterey Avenue and Gerald Ford Drive.
