At about 6 p.m. on Friday, May 4th, 40-year-old motorcyclist John Pedone, of Granada Hills, was killed in a crash with an SUV in the Los Angeles community of Valley Glen. While traveling northbound on Coldwater Canyon Avenue, Pedone collided with a white Ford Expedition that made a U-turn in front of him. He sustained major trauma and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are investigating the accident and have requested that witnesses call 818-644-8028.
“When a driver’s negligence results in a collision causing fatal trauma, the victim’s family may hold the driver liable for their loss, often in the form of a wrongful death claim,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis.
Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 80 motorcyclists and injured another 2,709 in Los Angeles County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. That year, the county ranked 18th in a California Office of Traffic Safety comparison of the motorcycle accident statistics of 58 counties in the state.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis & Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of John Pedone, the motorcyclist who was killed in the crash with the SUV.
