Santa Barbara: Driver Arrested for Accident that Killed Allison Meadows and Seriously Injured Lindsay Keebler

By

On Friday, June 8th, police in Santa Barbara arrested a driver in connection with the accident that killed 26-year-old Allison Meadows and seriously injured 25-year-old Lindsay Keebler. Authorities believe that in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 6th, 28-year-old L. Tyrone Richardson was driving a 2006 Toyota 4-Runner and that Meadows and Keebler were either ejected from the sun roof or fell from the vehicle while car surfing. Richardson and another man brought the women to the hospital, claiming that they had been driving through the area and stopped to assist them. After interviewing Keebler, the California Highway Patrol determined Richardson’s involvement in the accident. He is being held on $500,000 bail in Santa Barbara County Jail.

“After an accident resulting in injury or death, an investigation will be conducted to determine liability,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis, “and the negligent party may face civil and criminal charges.”

Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 35 motor vehicle occupants and injured another 2,203 throughout Santa Barbara County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s most current data. Comparing the incidence of fatal and injury collisions for 58 counties, the California Office of Traffic Safety ranked Santa Barbara 31st in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
