At about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17th, five people were injured in a collision involving four vehicles on Interstate 5 in Laguna Hills. The crash occurred at the Alicia Parkway on-ramp. Four of the five people who received medical attention at the scene of the accident were taken to a local hospital, two with moderate trauma. According to witnesses, one of the vehicles involved rolled over several times. Authorities are investigating the crash.

In 2010, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 139 people in Laguna Hills, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Laguna Hills ranked 20th out of 93 cities with similar populations for the number of fatal and injury crashes that occurred there; cities that place higher have poorer safety records, with 1st place being the worst.
