Pixley: One Killed, Four Injured When Pickup Truck Crashed

By

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday, August 3rd, one person was killed and four were injured when a pickup truck crashed in Pixley. While traveling northbound on Road 120 in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, 37-year-old Gustavo Quintero lost control of his vehicle near Avenue 80 and crashed into a tree. The impact claimed the life of a 13-year-old female occupant of the truck and caused Quintero and three other passengers to suffer minor to moderate trauma. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

“Passengers who suffer serious or fatal injury have rights under California law,” explained car accident attorney James Ballidis. “Those who were injured may pursue personal injury claims against the negligent driver, while the families of victims who were killed in the accident may file wrongful death claims.”

In 2009, passengers accounted for 28 of the 74 fatalities and 891 of the 2,565 injuries suffered in traffic accidents that occurred in Tulare County, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Throughout the state, there were 3,081 traffic-related deaths that year.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the 13-year-old girl who was killed in the crash last Friday. We would also like to wish a full recovery to those who were injured.
