By

At about 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 42-year-old Latonya Sutton-Grey and her 6-year-old daughter Layloni Grey were killed in a collision on Interstate 5 in Los Angeles County. The crash, which involved multiple vehicles, occurred in southbound lanes near State Route 138. The mother and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. Six others suffered injury in the accident. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

“An official investigation into a fatal accident can take several weeks,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis, “which can be frustrating for family members seeking information about their lost loved one.”

Traffic accidents resulted in 72,010 fatalities and injuries in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current accident statistics. Statewide, traffic deaths reached the lowest level recorded since the government began tracking such information in 1975, down 3,081 from 2008 to 2,715 in 2009.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Latonya Sutton-Grey and Layloni Grey. We would also like to wish a full recovery to those who were injured.

The Los Angeles Times originally reported this fatal Interstate 5 crash.
