Lancaster: Passenger Enrique Escobar Fatally Injured in Crash

By

At about 8 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 28-year-old Enrique Escobar was fatally injured in a crash in Lancaster. While traveling northbound on 20th Street East, the driver of a 2004 Infinity struck a 2009 Honda that was heading eastbound on Lancaster Boulevard, the impact causing the Honda to overturn and land on its roof. Escobar, a passenger in the Honda, and at least three other people were transported to the hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at Antelope Valley Hospital on Monday, October 22. Authorities are investigating the accident and have asked that witnesses, or anyone with information, contact the Lancaster Station’s Traffic Enforcement Team at 661-948-8466.

“When a collision results in injury or death, the victims or their families may hold the negligent driver accountable for the expenses associated with their recovery or loss through the civil claims process,” explained California car accident attorney James Ballidis.

Lancaster accounted for 5 of the 346 fatalities and 997 of the 62,881 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in collisions that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. That year, traffic fatalities in the state decreased by 11.9 percent, from 3,081 in 2009 to 2,715.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Enrique Escobar, the man killed in the crash. We would also like to wish a full recovery to those who were injured.
