Canyon Country: Steven Oster Killed, Anthony Druliner and Jonathan Lavoie Injured in Head-On Collision

By

At about 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 49-year-old Steven Oster, of Palmdale, was killed and 29-year-old Anthony Druliner, of Saugus, and 25-year-old Jonathan Lavoie, of Santa Clarita, were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Canyon Country. While traveling westbound on Vasquez Canyon Road, the driver of a 2007 Lincoln veered into eastbound lanes, striking the 2006 Mazda Oster was operating. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lincoln proceeded to crash with a 2011 Toyota, the impact ejecting Druliner and Lavoie from the vehicle. The Los Angeles Daily News did not indicate whether or not the driver of the Toyota, 23-year-old Rocio Vasquez, was hurt in the crash. Authorities suspect that drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the collision and are investigating.

“When a motor vehicle collision results in fatality or injury, the negligent party may be held liable through the personal injury or wrongful death claims process,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Santa Clarita accounted for 4 of the 346 fatalities and 886 of the 62,881 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in crashes that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Alcohol was a factor in 6,511 of the fatal and injury collisions that occurred in the county that year.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Steven Oster. We would also like to wish a full recovery to Anthony Druliner and Jonathan Lavoie.
