Hollister: Wolfgang Eugen Krismantis and Ladonn Ann Krismantis Killed in Semi Crash

By

At about 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 60-year-old Wolfgang Eugen Krismantis and 51-year-old Ladonn Ann Krismantis, of Sonora, were killed in a semi crash in Hollister. While traveling northbound on San Felipe Road in a Nissan Altima, 24-year-old Rudy R. Lopez ran a red light at Highway 156, colliding with the Mercury Sable in which the Krismantises were riding. The impact sent the two vehicles into the path of a semi, causing a third collision. Emergency responders airlifted Lopez to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. The driver of the semi, 42-year-old Rosario B. Medina, was not hurt.

“When an accident can be attributed to the negligence of one of the driver’s involved, those who were injured may pursue personal injury claims against the driver,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis. “In the event that the accident proves fatal, the family of the victim may file a wrongful death claim against the driver in order to be compensated for their loss.”

Hollister accounted for none of the 3 fatalities and 93 of the 259 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in crashes that occurred in San Benito County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 2,715 people in the state that year-11.9 percent fewer than in 2009.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Wolfgang Eugen Krismantis and Ladonn Ann Krismantis. We would also like to wish a full recovery to Rudy R. Lopez.
