Long Beach: Terrence Harris, Richard McAleavey, and Mark Matrineau Killed in Truck Accident

By

Shortly after 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 36-year-old Mark Matrineau, of Seal Beach, and 54-year-old Richard McAleavey, of Long Beach, were killed in a truck accident; a third man, 36-year-old Terrence Harris, also of Long Beach, sustained injuries that later proved fatal. While traveling northbound on Redondo Avenue, McAleavey lost control of the Dodge Ram truck, hydroplaned, and slammed into a concrete pillar. Authorities suspect the vehicle may have been traveling too fast for the rainy conditions and are investigating.

“After a fatal crash, the families of the victims may hold the negligent party liable for their losses by filing wrongful death claims,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Long Beach accounted for 19 of the 346 fatalities and 1,986 of the 62,881 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in collisions that occurred throughout Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Speed was a factor in 14,181 of the fatal and injury crashes that occurred in the county that year.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the families of Terrence Harris, Richard McAleavey, and Mark Matrineau, the three men killed in the truck accident.
