Shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 35-year-old motorcyclist Brandon Garrett was killed in a collision with a Lexus in Los Angeles. The driver collided with Garrett-who was traveling north on Bundy Drive-while turning left from southbound Bundy onto eastbound Missouri Avenue. Garrett was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the crash and have asked that witnesses contact West Traffic Division Investigator Officer H. “After a fatal collision, the family of the victim may hold the negligent party liable for their loss by filing a wrongful death claim,” explained California motorcycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Throughout Los Angeles County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of 71 motorcyclists and injured another 2,657 in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. California’s incidence of motorcyclist fatalities decreased 10.7 percent from 394 in 2009 to 352 in 2010.
