At about 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 71-year-old Ghorbanali Norouzian, of Corona del Mar, was killed in a pedestrian accident in Newport Beach. A car struck Norouzian on San Joaquin Hills Road, between MacArthur Boulevard and San Miguel Drive. He was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries a short time later. Witnesses have been asked to call the Newport Beach Police Department at 949-644-3711.
“The official investigation into a fatal accident may take several weeks to complete,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis, “during which time the family of the victim may find it challenging to obtain details about the accident.”
In Newport Beach, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 36 pedestrians in 2010, 6 of whom were aged 65 or older, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current statistics. Out of 103 cities with populations ranging in size from 50,001 and 100,000, the OTS ranked Newport Beach 13th for its incidence of pedestrian accidents among this older population; 1st place is the worst possible ranking.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Ghorbanali Norouzian.
The Orange County Register originally reported this pedestrian accident.
