Citrus Heights: Motorcyclist Nicolas Solano Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision

By

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 23-year-old motorcyclist Nicolas Solano was seriously injured in a head-on collision in Citrus Heights. While traveling eastbound on Greenback Lane, a motorist changed lanes in front of a van near Birdcage Street, causing the driver of the van to swerve into opposing lanes of traffic to avoid an accident, where he collided with Solano. He was transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. Thirty-year-old Adam McGue, the driver of the van, fled the scene but was later apprehended and arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run with bodily injury.

“If a motorcyclist is injured in a collision for which he or she was not at-fault, the rider may file a personal injury claim against the negligent party in order to be compensated for recovery-related expenses,” explained California motorcycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Citrus Heights accounted for none of the 11 fatalities and 28 of the 371 injuries suffered by motorcyclists in crashes that occurred in Sacramento County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. The California Office of Traffic Safety compares the traffic statistics of cities with similarly sized populations, giving those with the poorest records the highest rankings, with 1st place considered the worst. That year, Citrus Heights ranked 7th out of 103 cities for motorcyclist safety.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to Nicholas Solano, the motorcyclist who was seriously injured in the head-on collision.
