Palmdale: Tracy Romero Killed, Ladislao Medina and Sylvia Schaeffer Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision

By

Shortly before 9:49 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 47-year-old Tracy Romero was killed and 50-year-old Ladislao Medina and 66-year-old Sylvia Schaeffer were seriously injured in a head-on collision near Palmdale. While traveling westbound on Avenue O, Romero veered into opposing lanes of traffic and crashed into the pickup truck Medina was driving. Romero was declared dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported Medina and Schaeffer to an area hospital. Authorities are investigating the accident.

“After a crash, those who were injured may hold the negligent driver liable for the cost of their recoveries,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis. “Families who have lost loved ones in collisions may pursue wrongful death claims against the at-fault driver.”

Traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 812 people in Palmdale in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Palmdale 17th out of 53 cities with populations ranging in size from 100,001 to 250,000 for its incidence of fatal and injury collisions; 1st place is the worst possible ranking.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Tracy Romero. We would also like to wish a full recovery to Ladislao Medina and Sylvia Schaeffer.

The Los Angeles Daily News originally reported this head-on collision.
