Shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, one person was seriously injured in a semi crash in Pomona. An SUV and a semi collided on the 71 Freeway near Old Pomona Road, closing the 71 and a portion of the 60 Freeway for a couple of hours. Emergency responders airlifted one person to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. Authorities are investigating the accident.
“Given their size and weight, semi trucks can exert tremendous force in a collision,” explained California truck accident lawyer James Ballidis, “and such accidents oftentimes result in serious injury, especially for the occupants of passenger vehicles.”
Pomona accounted for 6 of the 346 fatalities and 938 of the 1,124 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Throughout the county, large trucks were involved in 47 of the fatal and 1,535 of the injury crashes that occurred that year.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the person who was seriously injured in the semi crash.
