Shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 29-year-old motorcyclist Rosalio Cardenas was killed in a collision involving a semi in the City Heights area of San Diego. While traveling northbound on State Route 15, another motorcyclist rear-ended Cardenas at University Avenue; then a vehicle struck him, the impact ejecting him from his bike and into the path of a semi. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Authorities are investigating the accident.
“After a fatal crash, the family of the victim may hold the at-fault driver liable for their loss by filing a wrongful death claim,” explained California motorcycle accident attorney James Ballidis.
Throughout San Diego County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 1,064 motorcyclists in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records. That year, large trucks were involved in 8 of the fatal and 228 of the injury crashes that occurred in the county.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Rosalio Cardenas, the motorcyclist who was killed in the collision involving the semi.
