Canyon Country: One Killed, Two Seriously Injured in Collision

By

At about 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, one person was killed and two were seriously injured in a collision near Canyon Country. While traveling southbound on Sierra Highway in a pickup truck, a 52-year-old man swerved into the northbound lane near Davenport Road, colliding head-on with another truck. The man was killed in the crash. A passenger in his vehicle and the driver of the other truck sustained major trauma and were transported to area hospitals. Authorities are investigating the crash.

“When a collision results in serious or fatal injury, the victims or their families may hold the negligent driver liable for the expenses associated with their recoveries or losses,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 796 people in Santa Clarita in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records. The OTS ranked Santa Clarita 25th out of 53 cities with populations of a similar size for its incidence of fatal and injury crashes in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the man who was killed in the collision. We would also like to wish a full recovery to the driver and passenger who were seriously injured.

The Los Angeles Times originally reported this Canyon Country accident.
