At about 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 48-year-old Ana Cortes, of Riverside, was killed in a collision with a truck in Jurupa Valley. The accident, which occurred at the intersection of Limonite Avenue and Peralta Place, involved four vehicles. Emergency responders transported Cortes to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later. One person involved in the crash sustained moderate trauma and another went into full cardiac arrest. Authorities are investigating the accident.
“In the event that a motor vehicle collision results in serious or fatal trauma, the victims or their families may hold the at-fault driver liable for expenses associated with their recoveries or losses,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Throughout Riverside County, traffic accidents killed or injured 11,417 people in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Riverside 46th out of 58 counties for its incidence of fatal and injury crashes in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
