At about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, January 25, five people were injured in a DUI accident in Lake Elsinore. While traveling southbound in the 200 block of Chaney Street, 18-year-old Eduardo Barba lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over and slam into a retaining wall. Emergency responders transported him and four passengers to an area hospital, their injuries ranging from moderate to major. Authorities suspect that Barba was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Witnesses, or anyone with information about the accident, are asked to call the sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station at 951-245-3300.
“When passengers are injured in a crash, they may hold the negligent driver liable for the expense of their recoveries,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis, “such as for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.”
Car accidents killed or injured 168 people in Lake Elsinore in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Alcohol was a contributing factor to 10 of the collisions that resulted in injury or death, with Lake Elsinore ranking 88th out of 103 cities of a similar size for its incidence of DUI crashes.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the five people injured in the DUI accident.
