At about 6 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 56-year-old Hilary Ann Six was killed in a DUI crash in Reseda. While traveling northbound on Reseda Boulevard, 22-year-old Daniel Corner lost control of his vehicle near Saticoy Street, swerved across lanes, and slammed into two parked cars, pinning Six between her Mini Cooper and another vehicle. Emergency responders transported her to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries the following day. Authorities arrested Corner on suspicion of felony driving under the influence; he will also face charges related to Six’s death. Witnesses are asked to contact Los Angeles Police Officer Jennifer Ward at 818-644-8114.
“When a family loses a loved one to a drunk driver, they may hold the driver liable by filing a wrongful death claim,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Alcohol was a contributing factor to 6,511 of the 72,010 fatal and injury crashes that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS recorded a historic low of alcohol-impaired driving fatalities-fatal crashes involving drivers or motorcycle riders with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 grams per deciliter or greater-of 744 in 2010 and 2011.
