By

Shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed 20-year-old skateboarder Daniel Ortiz in Norwalk. The accident occurred near the intersection of Studebaker and Foster roads. He was declared dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the accident and have requested that anyone with information contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Norwalk Station at 562-863-8711.

“Apprehending the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident is oftentimes crucial to the victim’s family’s ability to obtain compensation for their loss through the wrongful death claims process,” explained California personal injury attorney James Ballidis.

Norwalk accounted for 4 of the 568 fatalities and 689 of the 71,866 injuries suffered in traffic collisions that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Hit-and-run was a factor in 33 of the accidents that resulted in injury or death in the city that year.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Daniel Ortiz, the skateboarder who was struck and killed.
