Los Angeles: Three Motorcyclists Killed in Separate Collisions with Semis

By

On the morning of Tuesday, March 26, three motorcyclists were killed in separate collisions with semis in Los Angeles County. The first accident occurred in Hacienda Heights; shortly before 11 a.m., a male motorcyclist in his 30s collided with a big rig on the westbound 60 Freeway. He suffered fatal trauma in the crash. The second accident occurred in Alhambra less than 20 minutes later when a 20-year-old male motorcyclist attempted to pass a semi on the northbound 710 Freeway connector to the westbound 10 Freeway but instead collided with the truck, the impact proving fatal for the rider and his female passenger, who was also 20 years old. The trucker involved in the second crash did not stop at the scene. Authorities requested that witnesses, or anyone with information about the crash, call 323-980-4600.

“After a fatal crash, the party determined to be at-fault may be held liable by the families of the victims for their losses through the wrongful death claims process,” explained California motorcycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Throughout Los Angeles County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 2,713 motorcyclists in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Large trucks were involved in 47 of the fatal and 1,535 of the injury accidents that occurred in the county that year.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the families of the three motorcyclists who were killed in the semi crashes.

The Los Angeles Times originally reported these fatal collisions.
