San Luis Obispo: Female Passenger Injured in DUI Crash

By

At about 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, a 22-year-old female passenger was injured in a DUI crash in San Luis Obispo. Twenty-five-year-old Ethan Michael Dodgen crashed into a tree near the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Orcutt Road. Emergency responders transported him and the female passenger to an area hospital to receive treatment for minor to moderate injuries. Dodgen was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.

“Passengers who are injured in collisions may hold the negligent driver liable for the cost of their recoveries by filing personal injury claims,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.

In 2010, 292 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes in San Luis Obispo, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records. Alcohol was a contributing factor to 23 of the collisions that resulted in injury or death that year. The OTS ranked San Luis Obispo 18th out of 93 cities with populations of a similar size for its incidence of fatal and injury alcohol-related accidents.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the female passenger who was injured in the DUI crash. We would also like to wish a full recovery to Ethan Michael Dodgen.

The Tribune originally reported this San Luis Obispo accident.
