Carson: Van Struck, Killed Bicyclist

By

At about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, a van struck and killed a 57-year-old bicyclist in Carson. The accident occurred at the intersection of Avalon and Gardena boulevards. The victim, believed to be a resident of the city, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the accident.

“When a family loses a loved one to a traffic accident, they may hold the at-fault driver accountable by filing a civil claim against him or her,” explained California bicycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Fourteen bicyclists were killed or injured in traffic accidents that occurred in Carson in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Carson 76th out of 103 cities for its incidence of fatal and injury bicycle accidents in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the bicyclist whom the van struck and killed.

The Daily Breeze originally reported this Carson bicycle accident.
