At about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a BMW on University Avenue in Hillcrest. Emergency responders transported the rider to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. The driver of the car sustained a wrist injury. The crash closed lanes of University at Eighth and Ninth avenues. Authorities are investigating the accident.
“When a motorcycle rider is injured in a collision for which he or she was not at-fault, the rider may file an injury claim in order to be compensated for the expense of his or her recovery,” explained California motorcycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 1,064 motorcyclists in San Diego County in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked San Diego 26th out of the state’s 58 counties for the number of fatal and injury motorcycle accidents that occurred there that year. First place is the worst possible ranking.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the motorcyclist who was seriously injured in the University Avenue crash.
U-T San Diego originally reported this Hillcrest collision.
