A vehicle struck Chagolla-Barriga near Slover and Mulberry Avenues. She was transported to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries. “Locating the driver responsible for a fatal accident can prove crucial to the ability of the family of the victim to seek justice through the civil claims process,” according to California pedestrian accident attorney James Ballidis.
The California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records indicate that 42 pedestrians were killed or injured in traffic accidents in Fontana in 2010. Hit-and-run was a factor in 28 of the fatal and injury accidents that occurred in the city that year. Statewide, pedestrian fatalities increased 3.9 percent from 601 in 2010 to 625 in 2011.
