Sherman Oaks: Hyundai Sought after Fatal Hit-and-Run

By

At about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, a newer model Hyundai sedan struck and fatally injured a 22-year-old man in Sherman Oaks. A valet attendant had just opened the door of a Ford Focus parked on Ventura Boulevard, west of Kester Avenue, when the westbound silver Hyundai collided with the driver as he exited the vehicle. Emergency responders transported the driver of the Ford to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that morning. Witnesses, or anyone with information about this hit-and-run accident, are asked to call Valley Traffic Division Officer Martinez at 818-644-8032 or Officer Fredo at 818-644-8037.

“In the absence of the driver responsible for a fatal accident, the family of the victim may have little recourse through the civil justice system,” explained California pedestrian accident lawyer James Ballidis, “which is why it is so important to apprehend hit-and-run drivers.”

The California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records indicate that 72,010 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010. Hit-and-run was a factor in 5,962 of the fatal and injury collisions that occurred in the county that year, which ranked 2nd out of the state’s 58 counties for its incidence of such accidents.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the man who was killed in the hit-and-run accident involving the Hyundai.

The Los Angeles Times originally reported this Sherman Oaks hit-and-run accident.
