At about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 15, two people were injured in a crash on Highway 74 near Lake Elsinore, reported The Press-Enterprise. A vehicle left the highway, landing 30 feet over the side of the road near Wasson Canyon Road. Emergency responders transported two people to area hospitals to receive treatment for injuries ranging from minor to major. Authorities are investigating the accident.
The California Office of Traffic Safety’s records indicate that 168 people were killed or injured in crashes that occurred in Lake Elsinore in 2010. The OTS ranked Lake Elsinore 64th out of 103 cities for its incidence of fatal and injury collisions; 1st place is the worst possible ranking. Statewide, 2,720 people were killed in collisions that year.
