Carson: Rogelio Torres Killed in Multiple-Vehicle Crash

At about 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 54-year-old Rogelio Torres, of Bell, was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash in Carson, reported the Long Beach Press-Telegram. The collision occurred on the southbound 710 Freeway near Del Amo Boulevard and left one vehicle overturned. Emergency responders pronounced Torres dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the accident.

Motor vehicle collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 294 people in Carson in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Carson 65th out of 103 cities with populations of between 50,001 and 100,000 for its incidence of crashes that resulted in injury or death; 1st place is the worst possible ranking. Collisions claimed 2,720 lives that year in California.
