Los Angeles: DUI Driver Stuck, Injured Caltrans Worker

By

At about 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, a suspected DUI driver struck and seriously injured a Caltrans worker in Los Angeles. The accident occurred in the southbound lanes under the 105 Freeway overpass near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Imperial Boulevard. The driver hit the worker while he was removing cones from the street. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, reported the Los Angeles Times.

One hundred and eighty California Department of Transportation employees have been killed while on the job since 1924. One of the primary contributing factors of accidents involving Caltrans workers is motorists who fail to exercise caution in Caltrans work zones. In 2013, the California Department of Transportation recorded 2 traffic-related employee deaths.

Those who have been injured in traffic accidents in California have recourse through the civil justice system. For more information on the civil claims process, please call 866-981-5596.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the man who was struck and seriously injured.
