Bakersfield: Truck Struck, Killed Anthony Matthew Saldana

On the night of Saturday, February 9, a pickup truck struck and killed 21-year-old Anthony Matthew Saldana in Bakersfield. The accident occurred near the intersection of Niles Street and Valencia Drive. Saldana died at the scene. The driver did not stop to administer aid. Authorities suspect the vehicle involved was a 2004-2012 Chevrolet Colorado truck. The accident is under investigation.

“Once a hit-and-run driver has been arrested, the family of the victim may file a wrongful death claim in order to obtain compensation for their loss,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis.

Traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 101 pedestrians in Bakersfield in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Hit-and-run was a factor in 98 of the collisions that caused injury or death in the city that year. The state’s incidence of pedestrian fatalities increased 3.9 percent from 601 in 2010 to 625 in 2011.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Anthony Matthew Saldana.
