Burbank: Motorcyclist Injured in U-Turn Crash with Motorist

At about 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, a motorcyclist was injured in a crash near Burbank. While traveling in the 6700 block of Forest Lawn Drive, a motorist made a U-turn in front of the 40-year-old motorcyclist, causing him to collide with her vehicle, the impact throwing him approximately 50 feet. He sustained multiple broken bones and head trauma and was taken to an area hospital. Authorities are investigating the accident.

“When a motorcyclist is injured in a crash for which he or she was not at-fault, the rider may file a personal injury claim against the negligent driver in order to obtain compensation for recovery-related expenses,” explained California motorcycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Burbank accounted for 1 of the 71 fatalities and 17 of the 2,657 injuries suffered by motorcyclists in collisions that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. The California Office of Traffic Safety ranked Burbank 23rd out of 53 cities of a similar size for its incidence of fatal and injury motorcycle accidents in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the motorcyclist who was injured in the collision with the motorist.
