Fremont: BMW Driver Seriously Injured in Collision with SUV


Shortly before 5:35 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, the driver of a BMW was seriously injured in a collision with an SUV in Fremont. While traveling southbound on Mission Boulevard in a Ford Explorer, a male driver in his early 50s failed to stop for a red light at the intersection with Driscol Road and broadsided the BMW. Emergency responders extricated the driver of the BMW, a man in his late 50s, from the wreckage and transported him to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. Authorities are investigating the crash.

“When a motor vehicle collision causes serious injury, the driver determined to be at-fault for the crash may be held civilly liable for the expense of the victims’ recoveries,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 528 people in Fremont in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Traffic signals or signs were a primary collision factor in 112 of the fatal and 12,799 of the injury crashes that occurred in the state that year, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System.
