Shortly after 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, one person was killed and several others were injured in a collision on Interstate 5 in Gorman. The crash, which involved at least three vehicles, occurred north of State Route 138. Emergency responders transported the victims to hospitals, including three by helicopter to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Multiple lanes were closed this morning due to the accident.
“The official investigation into a fatal accident can take several weeks,” explained California car accident attorney James Ballidis, “during which time details about the collision may not be available to the public, including the family of the victim.”
Throughout Los Angeles County, 72,010 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Los Angeles 15th out of 58 counties for its incidence of fatal and injury collisions. Statewide, traffic fatalities decreased by 11.9 percent, from 3,081 to 2,715.
