At about 12:19 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, six people were injured in a head-on DUI crash in Hacienda Heights. While traveling on Countrywood Avenue in a 1994 Acura Legend, 21-year-old Samantha Rey Rodriguez collided with a 2006 Honda Civic near Colima Road. Emergency responders transported six people to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Authorities arrested Rodriguez on suspicion of felony drunken driving.

Throughout Los Angeles County, traffic collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 72,010 people in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current data. The OTS compares that accident data of California’s 58 counties, ranking those with the poorest records the highest, with 1st place being the worst. That year, Los Angeles ranked 15th for its incidence of fatal and injury crashes.
