Shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, a motorcyclist was injured in a collision with an SUV in Jurupa Valley, reported The Press-Enterprise. The accident occurred at the intersection of Limonite Avenue and Troth Street. The motorcyclist had been riding west at the time. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery. Authorities are investigating the accident.
Throughout Riverside County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 538 motorcyclists in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Riverside 41st out of 58 counties for its incidence of fatal and injury motorcycle crashes in a rating system in which 1st place is the worst. Statewide, motorcycle fatalities increased 15 percent from 352 in 2010 to 414 in 2011.
