At around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20th, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident in La Mirada. Near the intersection of Santa Gertrudes Avenue and Lawnhill Drive, a motorist struck a man in his 70s, fleeing afterward. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have located the vehicle that they suspect hit the victim but have not released additional information, explains a California personal injury attorney.
La Mirada accounted for none of the 177 fatalities and 9 of the 5,215 injuries suffered by pedestrians in traffic accidents throughout Los Angeles County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. That year, Los Angeles County accounted for nearly 30 percent of the 596 pedestrian fatalities that occurred in the state.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the pedestrian who was killed in the accident yesterday.
The Los Angeles Times originally reported this La Mirada hit-and-run.
