Lake Elsinore: Five Injured in Rollover Crash

At about 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, five people were injured in a rollover crash in Lake Elsinore. While traveling southbound on Greenwald Avenue in a 1995 Honda Civic, 40-year-old Angelica Chavez turned left onto Tyson Road in front of a northbound GMC Sonoma pickup truck, the impact causing the truck to rollover. Emergency responders transported Chavez and two of her passengers, 22-year-old Chantel Chavez and a 14-year-old boy, to area hospitals to receive treatment for injuries ranging from moderate to major. Two of the passengers in the GMC, 53-year-old Gloria Polento and a 12-year-old girl, suffered moderate trauma and were also hospitalized. Authorities are investigating the crash.

“When motor vehicle occupants are injured in an accident, the negligent driver may be held liable for the expense of their recoveries,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.

The California Office of Traffic Safety recorded 168 fatal and injury accidents in Lake Elsinore in 2010. The OTS ranked Lake Elsinore 64th out of 103 cities with populations ranging in size from 50,001 to 100,000 for its incidence of motor vehicle accidents resulting in injury or death that year; 1st place is the worst possible ranking.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to Angelica Chavez, Chantel Chavez, Gloria Polento, and the boy and girl who were injured.
