Lake Elsinore: Passenger Cleopatra Turingan Killed in Rollover Crash

At about 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, 67-year-old Cleopatra Turingan, of Rowland Heights, was killed in a rollover crash in Lake Elsinore. While heading northbound on Interstate 15, the SUV in which Turingan was a passenger veered from the freeway south of the Nichols Road exit and rolled over, trapping her and the other occupant. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported the other person to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. The accident is under investigation.

“Passengers who suffer serious injury in a collision may hold the at-fault driver liable for the cost of their recoveries,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis. “In the event that the accident proves fatal, the family of the victim may pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver.”

The California Office of Traffic Safety indicates that 168 people were killed or injured in accidents that occurred in Lake Elsinore in 2010. The OTS compares the accident data of cities with similarly sized populations, giving those with the poorest records the highest rankings, with 1st place being the worst. That year, Lake Elsinore ranked 64th out of 103 cities for traffic safety.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Cleopatra Turingan, the passenger who was killed in the rollover accident. We would also like to wish a full recovery to the person who was injured.
