Malibu: Hit-and-Run Driver Struck, Killed Ronald Carver

At about 9 p.m. on Monday, February 11, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed 45-year-old Ronald Carver, of Newbury Park, in Malibu. While traveling on Pacific Coast Highway in a gray Audi, 44-year-old Jill Rose veered off the road near John Tyler Drive and struck Carver and his tow truck as he assisted a stranded motorist. Carver was pronounced dead at the scene. Rose continued driving on PCH and crashed into a car near the Malibu Pier. She sustained major trauma and was taken to an area hospital. Authorities are investigating whether or not alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the accident.

“After a fatal collision, the family of the victim may hold the negligent driver liable for their loss by filing a wrongful death claim,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis.

Malibu accounted for 6 of the 568 fatalities and 190 of the 71,866 injuries suffered in traffic accidents that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Alcohol was a factor in 197 of the fatal and 4,359 of the injury crashes.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Ronald Carver, the man killed in the hit-and-run accident.
