At about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6th, 19-year-old Donovan Adams was fatally injured and Joel Connor Fritz and Gregory Gonzalez, both 18, were seriously injured in a crash in Menifee. While traveling eastbound on McCall Boulevard, 19-year-old Michael Navarrete lost control of the Ford Explorer and slammed into a signal pole at Junipero Road, the impact ejecting one of the passengers. Firefighters had to extricate the others from the wreckage. Paramedics transported the four injured men to local hospitals, where Adams later succumbed to the trauma he suffered. Fritz and Gonsalez were in critical condition, while Navarrete was released several hours after the collision. Authorities suspect that speed contributed to the accident and are investigating.
Menifee accounted for 8 of the 172 fatalities and 251 of the 10,963 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in traffic crashes that occurred in Riverside County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. That year, unsafe speed was a contributing factor in 423 of the fatal and 47,896 of the injury collisions that occurred in the state.

We would also like to wish a full recovery to Joel Connor Fritz and Gregory Gonsalez, the two passengers who were seriously injured.
