Shortly after 11:35 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 24-year-old Marco Bautista and 23-year-old Makhara Op were killed and five people were seriously injured in a DUI accident in Moreno Valley. While traveling on Gilman Springs Road in a 2003 Volkswagen Passat, Bautista veered into the opposing lane of traffic two miles east of Alessandro Road, colliding head-on with a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. Bautista and Op, his passenger, suffered fatal trauma. The driver of the Trailblazer, 31-year-old Arturo Larios, and his four passengers sustained major trauma. Authorities suspect Bautista and Larios were driving under the influence at the time of the accident.
