At about 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 26-year-old Ismael Ramires Mejia and 19-year-old Lauriano Mejia Ramirez were killed in a head-on crash in Muscoy. While traveling northbound on Cajon Boulevard, the driver of a 2004 Dodge Ram swerved into opposing lanes of traffic and collided with the black 1999 Nissan Maxima Mejia was driving. Mejia and Ramirez were pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP is investigating the crash.
“When a family loses a loved one to a motor vehicle collision, they may file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault party in order to be compensated for their loss,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 11,866 people in San Bernardino County in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current accident data. The OTS ranked San Bernardino 36th out of 58 counties for the number of collisions that resulted in injury or death that occurred there that year; 1st place is the worst possible ranking.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the families of Ismael Ramires Mejia and Lauriano Mejia Ramirez, the two people who were killed in the head-on crash.
