Orange County Celebrates National Bike Month

Throughout the month of May, Orange County will be celebrating National Bike Month with a host of events to encourage cycling and bicycle safety. Check out a list of some of them below.

OCTA BikeShare: Annual memberships for Fullerton’s bike-sharing program will be offered at a 20 percent discount in May, reducing the cost of a regular membership from $75 to $60 and that of a student membership from $45 to $36.

Bike to Work Day (May 7): Meet other cyclists at the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center at 7 a.m. for a blessing of the bikes ceremony and then a ride to city hall. Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes.

OCTA Bike Rally (May 15)
: Join OCTA for a 3-mile ride from the Orange Metrolink Station to its headquarters at 7:30 a.m.

Bike to Work Week (May 15): Bring your bike on board Metrolink and receive a free train ride.

Ride of Silence (May 21): Honor cyclists who’ve lost their lives or been injured in traffic accidents by riding in silent processions in Fullerton, Irvine, and San Clemente. Similar processions will be held throughout the world.

Bike Safety Camp (May 24): Receive bike safety information, special giveaways, and free bicycle licenses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Irvine’s Pavilion Park.
