Palm Springs: Three Killed, One Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision


At about 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, three people were killed and one was seriously injured in a head-on collision in Palm Springs. While traveling northbound on Gene Autry Trail between Via Escuela and Interstate 10, the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Impala veered into opposing lanes of traffic and collided with a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. The impact proved fatal for the driver and the passenger of the Chevrolet. Emergency medical personnel transported the driver and passenger of the Chrysler to an area hospital, where the driver died and the passenger received treatment for major trauma. Witnesses, or anyone with information about the accident, are asked to call 760-323-8116.

“After a fatal collision, the negligent driver may be held liable for the injuries or losses suffered by the victims or their families through the civil claims process,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.

Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 425 people in Palm Springs in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Palm Springs 3rd out of 93 cities with populations ranging in size from 25,001 to 50,000 residents for its incidence of fatal and injury crashes; 1st place is the worst possible ranking.
