Patterson: One Killed, Five Injured in Crash on Highway 33

Shortly after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, one person was killed and five were injured in a crash on Highway 33 in Patterson. Twenty-five-year-old Gabino Solorro turned left from the northbound lane of the highway onto Zacharias Road in front of a southbound 1995 Ford E-250 Econoline van, the impact sending Solorro’s 2000 Nissan Frontier into a 2012 Peterbilt big rig that had also been waiting to turn onto Zacharias. Solorro and his front seat passenger, 19-year-old Jesus Orozco, sustained minor injuries. Emergency responders airlifted two back seat passengers, 43-year-old Magdalene Estrada and 18-year-old Christina Perez, to area hospitals to receive treatment for serious injuries. A 44-year-old woman who was also riding in the back seat was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van, 31-year-old Gabino Cisneros, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. The driver of the semi was not injured. Authorities are investigating the accident.

“Under California law, those who suffer trauma in a motor vehicle collision may hold the negligent party civilly liable for the expenses associated with their recoveries,” explained California car accident attorney James Ballidis. “The families of victims who did not survive the accident may seek compensation for their losses through the wrongful death claims process.”

Patterson accounted for none of the 35 fatalities and 45 of the 3,132 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in collisions that occurred in Stanislaus County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Throughout California, 2,720 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents that year.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis & Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the woman who was killed in the crash on Highway 33. We would also like to wish a full recovery to Gabino Solorro, Jesus Orozco, Magdalene Estrada, Christina Perez, and Gabino Cisneros.
