Perris: Hit-and-Run Driver Struck, Seriously Injured 5-year-old

At about 9 p.m. on July 24th, the driver of an SUV struck and seriously injured a 5-year-old in Perris and then fled the scene. The hit-and-run accident occurred in the parking lot of a Baskin Robbins located at 1688 Perris Boulevard. Paramedics transported the child to a hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver, who sheriff’s officials described as a male Hispanic in his 40s who is balding. They described his vehicle as a newer, white Ford Expedition. Anyone with information is asked to call 951-210-1000, or 951-776-1099 after hours and on weekends.

“In many cases, when a driver flees the scene of an accident, the victims are left to cover the cost of their medical bills and other expenses related to their injuries,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis, “which is why it is always fortunate when police are able to apprehend the driver.”

Throughout the city of Perris, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 14 pedestrians in 2010, 4 of whom were under the age of 15, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. That year, hit-and-run was a contributing factor to 12 of the fatal and injury traffic accidents that occurred in the city.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the 5-year-old the vehicle struck and seriously injured.

The Press-Enterprise originally reported this Perris hit-and-run accident.
